Depart Siem Reap by bicycle in the morning after breakfast. Today we start riding to the Angkor complex and first visit Banteay Srei temple. We cycle 25km to Banteay Srei over rural roads. Banteay Srei is the best preserved temple of all. We explore the really peaceful countryside away from the crowds and awe ourselves over the well preserved carvings of Banteay Srei.
After this exploration we head back to the main complex and start exploring other temples. The first one would be Banteay Kdei. Know as one of the bigger complexes. Banteay Kdei is well preserved and offers great opportunities to explore on your own away from the crowds. On our way to the jungle overgrown Ta Prohm we pass Takeo Temple. This is a pyramid from temple and if you feel like it, climb the stairs and enjoy the view from above.
Ta Prohm is famous for its overgrown jungle and was used in the movie Tomb Raider. This temple gives you an opportunity to shoot some of the most beautiful pictures. It will also be at this temple that we will sit down for a well deserved picnic lunch in between the massive trees and ruins. After lunch we head out to Angkor Thom, the previous capital of Angkor Wat. We cycle over the shady main road until we arrive at the magnificent Victory Gate. We continue our ride and after 1.5km we arrive at the Bayon, famous for its four-faced towers. The terrace of the Leper king is another significant and beautiful piece of ancient architecture together with the Elephant Terrace and the Baphuon. The Bayon itself remains the highlight of this complex and after each corner you will find another mystery to discover. It’s a full-day cycle and exploration of some of the most impressive and significant temples of the Angkor complex. You will enjoy lunch at Angkor Café.
Head back to Siem reap where we will end this whole adventure with a celebratory dinner at Apsara Theatre where you will enjoy great food and a classical Apsara Ballet performance.
